The world today seems absolutely crackers, with nuclear bombs that could blow us all sky high. There’s fools and idiots sitting at the trigger, it’s depressing and it’s senseless and that’s why…..

Monty Python sang this 40 years ago, sentiments that still ring true, to me though, and the subject that’s engrossed me professionally for the past 15 years this paragraph points me to the halfwits of the paranormal subject. A now media driven crusade against rationality, dignity and reality.

So today’s little guffaw which has shaken my tree is that of the expert!!!

Who pray tell can tell me what makes an expert in the world of the paranormal, come on, think hard? Cos I can’t think of anything, yet time and again “paranormal expert – Bob Charlatan” appears somewhere in the media spouting claptrap that homeowner Susan so and so has the spirit of a farmer in her house who hasn’t passed over to the other side, the house built where his home or on part of the 1000 acre plot he farmed….. Hello, is there part of the paranormal experts course dealing with frequently reoccurring haunting reasons, because not only have I heard this explanation this week from Coventry, ( kudos to my colleague Ms D’Raven’s exceptional blog entry) , but also in Ellesmere Port, Widnes ( both of which due to UPIA client confidentiality I’m unable to disclose details) and Longsight.

That case I can discuss. Contacted by a witness’s daughter, deeply upset and concerned by her 75 year old mother’s mental state, the UPIA were asked to visit the home of the client and offer our opinion concerning the potential of paranormal events. Luckily we do have a pretty thorough set of report forms, created to ascertain particular issues, physiological, psychological, medical and much more. We also had in our team, a leading pharmaceutical company’s laboratory manager, plus several individuals with a career in the medical industry.

Upon interviewing the witness and the development of the information contained in our documents, alarm bells were raised when discussing prescribed drugs. The client in short had been prescribed a certain sleeping tablet, the dosage for which was suggested medically to be used for no longer than an 18 month period. 3 years later, she was still using the drug. Upon our discussions following the visit, we ascertained the lady had possibly gained immunity to the prescribed drug, leading to sleepless nights, sleep deprivation and issues relating to this. We contacted her GP on her behalf, and an appointment was made to review her medication. A new sleeping tablet was offered and lo, 2years later, upon a courtesy call, no paranormal events have been reported since and the clients sleep pattern is undisturbed.

So much for the Experts and spiritualists who visited before us.

Time and again we read about the experts in the field, when, I believe, what is there to be an expert about, is it not lifelong learning? Sure you can have a doctorate in plebology, but that doesn’t make you the main man. I’ve been involved in the subject for 15 years, took the courses (some I’d tell anyone to take, some I’ve wiped my arse on) I’m still doing courses, nothing with a recognised diploma at the end, but created by universities and distributed free, not about the paranormal, but who in a world of gadgets and gizmos has undertook a course solely about EMF? I have, cos I wanted to learn about it, as in my mind ghosts don’t emit EMF, so EMF must have an effect… Guess what. It does. Several UPIA members are the same, why discuss something you don’t know the basics about, trust me some of the free courses out there may not say paranormal or UFO related on the package, but I’m astounded by the information available and some of the areas currently being studied, I’d never have realised contain so much information that should be studied if involved in the subject.

And my personal favourite expert – the Exorcist….. An exorcism to clear evil influences, I think consumer laws, and misleading the public comes into play.

An exorcism is a religious blessing which can only be performed by an ordained priest, who has specific permission from the diocese bishop. This permission is generally given as a last resort after counseling, psychiatric and medical approaches have failed to achieve any change in a case. This generally works as a placebo. At present the Catholic Church has 13 ordained exorcists, controlled by the Vatican. 3 Protestant (exorcists) deliverance ministers and since the 1600’s no orthodox ministers. Therefore who are the exorcists amongst us, why was they parading as such, and why nobody else bringing this to folks attention?

The UPIA have undertaken an experiment to see how quickly and what procedures are in place to become a recognized exorcist, outside of reality. And the results? One hour to gain online Ordainance into a church of some American claptrappery, set up a free website and acquire the necessary catholic rites. I’m ordained, I’m promoted, I know what to say, not once do I invoke the Archangel Michael. Am I am Exorcist? Am I heck as like, but in that hour, I was a better qualified and more knowledgeable one than the crap promoted by barmpot paranormal groups in the UK.

Actually my favourite expert is a medium, but I’ll leave that to another blog, another time, and somebody who stores information in their mind better than I….

I don’t like experts.
