Paranormal Live Event Barmpots ( or PLEB’s)

Well I’ve been sifting through data and statistics, monitoring trends and generally passing my eye over the world of the paranormal, cryptozoological and UFOlogical. My findings…. It seems there is a lull in the world. Less credible reports, a downturn in paranormal barmpot’s peddling their claptrap, less pies in the skies, hoax pussy cat cases where entire county police are mustered. The world didn’t end, the paranormal genre isn’t being thrust in our faces by the media, all in all, it’s all gone quiet. Too quiet.

The only constant is the money making scam merchants, yes the truther’s, end of world mob and the pariahs that are the paranormal tourist companies. Pay £50 to scare the crap out of yourself, all in the aid of lining our own pockets.

Time these halfwits were regulated. Do they pay VAT, Tax, and Insurance etc? And are they being honest to their clients? Here’s where I ask one to prove the facts to me? Any takers?

Yes I’m a social networking saddo, I live my life via facebook, well not all of it, you can’t get jiggy virtually, well I can’t… And lo, I switch on my account, and half a dozen scam merchants are peddling their wears

Let’s have a look at the genre.

First came paranormal investigation, next – Most farted, the training guide for all modern wank biscuits – Yes all the halfwits who still think a pink orb is a girl, and a blue one is a boy, and they have faces, some animal ones.. (Shut up you twats) learnt their trade on Britain’s most deplorable program. And yes I still stand by my mantra, if you’ve been on it, you’re a cock, a liar, and a money making turnip.

So the halfwit brigade, weighed down with instant experts and the delusional – I am a psychic, battled to the forefront of a now media driven industry. Mini cult leaders and bored housewives were in their element. Scaring themselves shitless with tales of stupidity. Here we find the deranged introducing a new phenomena – The creation of the ‘that building’s old and looks haunted, so it is.’ Here the gullibulls and gullicows and other coat tail riders jumped onto whatever the group ‘ cult ‘ leader or pisstake, sorry, psychic said, or in most instances, created. And legendary locations of significant paranormal importance were born.

They then added ‘professional’ and ‘scientific’ to their credentials. I still scratch my head at what they mean by professional, and scientific, cos they use an EMF meter with ‘ACME scientific’ stamped on the back.
But it seems boredom has prevailed. That’s for most; probably due most to the barmpot rag, the Sun, not having the drivel included has meant they aren’t getting their two seconds of fame too.

What’s it left us with? Another industry, the cult leaders, psychic dogshit pedlars and numerous other favourites of the sycophants have found they can continue their money scamming. Yes, they guest at the paranormal tourism and events big nights at none haunted locations.

Fact. Myself and the UPIA took part in a Canadian TV series called Ghost Cases, One of the locations used was the Lion and Swan in Congleton, Cheshire. Both useful as a base for the crew the stay, but also as I live in Congleton. I have had access to the Lion and Swan since 2004, that’s now, seven years of discussing the case with owners, staff and alleged witnesses. Having conducted numerous hours on site investigation, including a full week with a TV crew, I can honestly say the location has a colander full of holes in any story relating to alleged paranormal events. Basically it’s full of shit. But Multi million pound make over’s and failing pub businesses mean the Lion and Swan, like so many other event location are in dire need of additional funds. And who ya gonna call? Ghosttourists! Funny, I wrote a book, not a brilliant book, but one I wrote in memory of my Dad, ( Paranormal Reality: Ghosts, UFO’s and Pussycats). In it appeared a chapter regarding the Lion and Swan. Odd how the entire article now appears on several websites, introducing the venue. Added of course the obligatory Bullshit about haunting activity. Yes you too can spend anything up to £75 for a night at the hotel hunting none existent ghosts. And a local historian issues you with an imprecise account of the pubs history. Again, odd, I know most of the local historians and they have no idea who it is, and a totally different reality version of history.

That last paragraph basically sums it up, Event Company, fills you with shit, takes your money and leaves you enjoying mass hallucination or scaring each other witless. Yet so many folk still play out with these jerks. The whole industry is inept. Ok so some folk may want to scare themselves with fiction, but surely they are not that stupid to believe.

I also co edit a free online magazine – Phenomena Magazine. We offer free inclusion and promotion to many things; we receive no monies, but exchange promotion, links, or receive books and access to events free of charge to off coverage and review. Guess how many events companies have enquired about inclusion. But when we have suggested places on an event free of charge, as to review their practises etc, they have run a mile. The UPIA/Phenomena magazine are impartial and realistic. We will offer an in depth analysis of anything reviewed. If taking part in an event, we will not tread on any toes or give feedback on the night. Usually we will also confer with the individuals who write books, film DVD’s, organise conferences or run events before inclusion on any of our sites or in the mag. 5 event companies have enquired, 1 offered free tickets as a reader prize. But not one will utilise our offer to oversee and give honest, in depth opinion on their event.

So do they pay VAT, Tax, and Insurance etc, I know they claim to have some insurance, but how legal is it? Does the location put monies earned through the books, and for that matter, does psychic Sam, the onsite expert. Earning from the company to get his facebook sycophant followers to spend time in their immortal presence? I can see why they use these idiots.

No you are not Real ghosthunters, in a world where some folk ARE attempting to forward a knowledge and find answers to questions, all you are doing is getting in the way spouting shit.

Many folk who wish to report alleged paranormal phenomena now decide not to, many of them come across these experts, they don’t help, and they usually make things worse.

Paranormal Event companies. I challenge you. Utilise the UPIA and Phenomena Magazine, I know some of you will read this, if not, some who do read and know people involved, share the link. Invite us to attend, if you’re worth a shit, I’ll blog it, and report it in the magazine. Or are you too scared at being proven a pariah and a charlatan? Bring it on.

It’s the fooled paying consumer I feel sorry for.

Who are you letting into your home?

The world of the paranormal is now, thanks to crap media products in the UK, a money making goldmine. All and sundry are instant experts, or professional, scientific, Mediums, or anything else that can cloud the eyes of the unassuming public.

As a no-fee research and investigation group, UPIA strive to further ours and those who are also interested’s knowledge, not spouting the usual claptrap, but actually developing and testing our own theories. All that glitters is not gold, every home is not haunted, and most of the folk claiming to be paranormal investigators actually need a slap. One of our main concerns is the wellbeing of the client – as I’m sure you are aware, clients are often vulnerable and easy to take advantage of. However, our investigators are thoroughly vetted, highly trained and qualified, and also CRB checked for the protection of both ourselves and our clients. It is too easy to have somebody in the field, take a dislike and attempt to discredit groups or individuals.

Back to responsibility and awareness. It is all too easy for anybody to set up as an ‘expert’ two minutes to set up a website, contact the media, email a few local folk introducing themselves. In an hour, any person can create an identity of an experienced and respectable paranormal investigator.

Not to name names, but to point you in the correct direction, I’ve collated some additional reading showing just what can occur in an industry, which in ten years has risen from the underground and hardcore, to the more popular than fishing , million pound industry it is today.

All articles are direct links to UK newspapers, so it’s not me creating the info, it’s there for you to read and research.

See the trend? I’m not suggesting everybody involved in the subject is indeed a bad egg, but one thing I have called for, for many years, is a form of regulation, yes I know it’d be difficult, but some of the crap that goes on out there is appalling. We have encountered more than a dozen cases, where we have had to clean up after barmpots, intent on making money and causing families to suffer. These people are still operating in the industry, but the psychological ramifications suffered by their former clients are both disgusting and irresponsible. And no, I’m not a sceptic, I’m a realist who knows the difference between right, wrong and lies.

If not a regulation, why not a cull, give me a seal club and a queens pardon and I’d be more than happy to take part.

UPIA have a no publicity policy regarding live cases. Generally, cases that come into us are worked so quickly and efficiently that nobody ever hears about them. Recently we were contacted to study a location in Cheshire, reporting alleged paranormal activity, which caused the family to spend large amounts of money on hotel bills, too scared to return home, the case in question was a little different in that it had already been all over the news and TV. In this instance a paranormal money making group from the Wirral decided it would be OK to cold call the client, something in my view and the view of UPIA is classed as unacceptable behavior. Needless to say, after turning up mob handed, giving the owner the impression that they were the UPIA and proposing payment from the client, the UPIA were asked to cancel our involvement by the client, as they’d had far too much bother, in fact, they are now leaving their family home, after spending tens of thousands on home improvements. Not sour grapes by the way, but the ineptitude of these people have caused the UPIA to not be able to assist a family with matters more than likely psychological, they will likely have issues of this nature for some time, wherever they reside.

After this all took place, a second report was issued by a witness in Lancashire, unfortunately the witness contacted a UPIA coordinator via a social network site, in public view, and lo, the same individuals contacted her, claiming to be a representative of the organization, offering to visit, and payments mentioned. I also think their pet psychic would ‘clear’ the location, probably of all of value from the research we conducted….

So thanks to the Spiritual wombats for that, two cases gone, two sets of witnesses now in a situation of needing help, proper help not the delusional type, and both not receiving any.

Anyhow, the nature of this brief blog, is to highlight to the reader, who exactly you are letting into your home, you don’t know them; you don’t know anything about them, so please be aware.

I dont like barmpots.
