While perusing this infinite cesspit we call the internet today, I came across several blogs which have, shall we say, irked me…
The first, titled ‘Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters and Busters’ informed me that I was not, as I had thought a relatively stable individual with a healthy interest in the psychology of others, especially those who BELIEVE they have witnessed paranormal events. I am, according to this lady, dabbling with demons, and angels… and no doubt a plethora of other unsavoury supernatural entities that I have absolutely no knowledge or conception of.
Thanks for that, lady… I actually DO have quite an in depth knowledge of the above, in fact I probably know more about your religion than you do, especially the bad bits.
The commonalities between the two phenomenon (ghosts and demons) she says, are as follows…
1. Heavy air, like swimming through water.
2. Swift temperature changes (both cold and hot)
3. Smells and Sounds – popping, foot steps, voices
4. Chills and goose bumps
5. Floating light orbs in photos and on video
Bizarrely, I’d never thought of any of the above as the symptoms of a haunt, or of demonic activity – I’ve always explained most events of this type as naturally occurring, drafts and dust etc. environmental effects…
The lady then goes on to list some of the ‘main characteristics’ of the aforementioned supernatural entities… starting with…
‘They like being around grave yards which indicates an affiliation with dead bodies.’
Hmmm… Now, I’ve never met a demon (or an angel for that matter) – this I can wholeheartedly assure you of. I know this because, according to common belief (which I don’t personally buy into) both demons and angels are in possession of power so extreme that to gaze upon them or even be in their presence would cause certain death.
I also have no clue why the lady presumes that they allegedly hang around graveyards, this idea is something I’ve never heard before. I know lots of folk who hang around graveyards… folk who appreciate architecture, grieving relatives… Goths… none of which have struck me as all powerful entities or rendered me dead so I assume they aren’t supernatural either.
Demons give humans supernatural strength.
Depends on what you class as supernatural really…
They invade the brain making a human insensible to reason.
So do alcohol and drugs…
They cause crying, and sadistic/masochistic behaviour.
As do hormones, and reading the likes of this lady’s blog…
They have names.
Ah… Interesting one – so obviously a real identity has been accorded to said spectre? To give something a name, one must first consider it to exist in some capacity? To give something a name is to reinforce the belief in its existence – a belief which is mostly propagated by the Church itself.
More than one can possess one person and they work in concert to torment.
You know what? I’ve never ever come across an alleged real possession case where the possessed party has ever claimed to be possessed by demons… please, let me know if you have. The only ones I’ve ever heard of are where the exorcist themselves are forwarding the idea of possession.
They recognize Jesus as God’s Son and His complete authority.
Who doesn’t? It’s practically rammed down your throat from birth – I’d better point out here too that I’m not Anti Christ; I just don’t reckon much to His marketing team. I’m not a Satanist either, I know ‘cos I checked on David Ickes list.
They are territorial, desiring to stay in the same region/country.
Bit crap, considering ‘they’ are ‘the all powerful entities’? Surely if that was the case they wouldn’t be able to leave Heaven or Hell in the first place, and if you did become possessed while loitering around graveyards, you would then promptly become unpossessed upon leaving?
If they can’t indwell a human, they will indwell animal bodies rather than none at all, or be cast into the Pit (Rev. 20:3).
…but presumably only people or animals that hang around graveyards?
Demons can cause animals to kill themselves, and they like being in a body when it dies therefore they cause suicidal behaviour.
Whoa, whoa, whoa sweet child o mine – these are dangerous words… The major cause of suicidal behaviour is depression, not possession by demons. Catch up deary, we aint living in the dark ages. Victoria is no longer on the throne. If someone is presenting suicidal tendencies, you better call a doctor, not a priest…
They can cause deafness, silence, and rabid animal type behaviour.
…as can a wide variety of infections, viruses and mental illness, all of which do not respond favourably to quoting the Roman at them. Some need medication, others counselling.
Demons can indwell from childhood. Mark 9:21
At this point, I start to get really angry – she goes on about how said demons can be exorcised by fasting and prayer and the like, but I’m really not interested in how she professes to cure misinterpreted symptoms with a load of old hokum. In reality what she is doing is promoting some kind of ritual as a cure for inhibition of the body by supernatural entities.
What if she’s wrong?
What if the person is actually suffering an illness? Anneliese Michel was epileptic, not possessed by demons. She died during an exorcism performed by the Church. There have been many others who have died this way – the links are on another blog…
Oddly, on the same website there was another blog, this one about Eminem providing inspiration in the lyrics of ‘I’m Not Afraid’ for young Christians to become better people…
Last I’d heard, the illustrious Marshall Mathers, acclaimed rapper, foulmouthed little gimp etc. was at the centre of a conspiracy theory which shifts shapes as fast as David Ickes Reptilian race.
Apparently, Eminem is a member of the Illuminati (I’ve been accused of that too, I can assure you I’m really not that interesting…)
The idea of Eminem as a member of the New World Order malarkey comes from the fact that he wore a pendent when attending an awards ceremony which resembles a Masonic symbol – it was actually the logo for Alcoholics Anonymous, and probably refers to his recent rehabilitation. The other view is that he WAS a member of the Illuminati – but now he doesn’t want to be anymore, and the Illuminati are going to kill him… this theory comes from bad interpretations of the lyrics of some of the songs on the Recovery CD… particularly the song ‘Cinderella Man’. – Personally, I can’t see it myself- it just sounds like a very shouty and sweary cataloguing of his struggle to ‘get clean’. Course, I may be wrong, I don’t think Rhianna’s ‘Umbrella’ is Satanic, and I’m pretty certain that Lady GaGa isn’t an Illuminati puppet either (partly because there is no proof that the Illuminati exist anymore – not since about the 1780s anyway, but mainly because the all powerful Illuminati would have better choices at their fingertips…)
I’m not so sure about Justin Beiber and Jedward though…
